Vision

Village Childcare is founded in the belief that young children and their families have the right to receive culturally responsive opportunities to develop positive self-image and tangible skills to navigate their communities to reach educational success. Children who participate in early learning programs with intentional focus on equitable access to social, emotional, cognitive and self-help skills are better prepared to succeed in all areas of early development and are prepared for the transition to kindergarten.

Philosophy

 

Village Childcare focuses on developing the social, emotional, cognitive and self-help skills needed to succeed in all areas of early development. We prepare children and families for kindergarten. We engage them as active community members. Every child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature. Collaboration with families as their child’s first teacher is fundamental. The school educators’ team with the family to gain and share information about their child, their home life, and collaborate to plan opportunities to achieve their goals. These children and their families will be supported to achieve success as they define it from a caring team of Early Childhood Professionals that reflect their culture and have high expectations. The teacher acts as a guide. Allowing the child’s natural curiosity to direct his/her learning and insures
the child’s sees their culture, values and ethnic personage infused throughout the classroom environment and in people who teach them. The teacher’s provides access to information. Provides students access to hands-on activities allowing
adequate time and space to use materials that reinforce the lesson being studied. This teaching relationship creates an opportunity for individual discovery and construction of knowledge to occur. The opportunity to study things that are meaningful and relevant a child’s life and interests stimulates the passion to learn.
